About the event
On the longest day of the year, the beginning of summer, take a good long hike up, down, and around Denny Park. It will be a good exercise hike that cools in dusk and sunset on a downhill route to the lakeshore, 3-4 miles.
We’ll meet at the waterfront kiosk near the bridge and the picnic shelter on the O.O. Denny Park lawn. We’ll head out the creek trail, turn left into the MacDonald trail, up the new zigzag to 72nd Ave, up around the ridge tip, see the start of steep trail down but leave it alone and return to turn left and continue on the main Denny Park trail, past seeps, step-builds, Sylvia, the concrete bridge, fish ladder interlude, across three bridges, into the landslide site, up the 150 stairs, and on to the street and scan the sky the darkening sky.
Go home downhill as the night settles in. Hear barred owls. Hang around the waterfront for a sunset on a very long day!
