Finn Hill new district lines – Nov 1 is final opportunity to comment
As you may know, a committee was appointed earlier this year to redraw King County Council district lines in order to accommodate population growth in the County (mostly on the Eastside) and to ensure that districts encompass roughly equivalent numbers of residents (about 215,000 per district). Volunteer to be a salmon watcher
The Salmon Watcher Program trains volunteers to identify and record species and numbers of spawning salmonids in streams in the Lake Washington Watershed. Denny Creek is one of the streams listed by King County. Summary of review process for lacrosse field project in Big Finn Hill Park
Kirkland Youth Lacrosse (KYL) wants to convert an unimproved field in Big Finn Hill Park, now used for soccer practice in the dry months of the year, into an all season lacrosse pitch with lights for nighttime use. Redistricting plans underway in King County
The King County Districting Committee has begun public hearings on four alternate County Council redistricting plans. The plans are online at www.kingcounty.gov/districting . Annexation
Status – Spring 2011 Washington State’s Growth Management Act mandates Kirkland to annex Finn Hill (including Holmes Point), northern Juanita and Kingsgate before 2012. This could very well occur sometime in the next few years. It would increase Kirkland’s population by 44,860 (77%), from 34,300 to 79,160. The Finn Hill population is 12,600.
